THANKS

Hey this post is for those who are short-sighted religiously, and Shaun. (Check out The SJS DM's blog man, you'll gasp-I did)

First of all, Shaun, I would like to say thanks for your atheistic Buddhist views on Christianity and Catholicism. I would also humbly thank you for curing my short-sightedness. You made me realize that sometimes we gotta ask the rock we're standing on: "Are you strong enough?" than later ask ourselves: "Do I believe my rock is strong enough? If I don't, why do I stand here-not elsewhere?"

It is true that blind faith is stupid. Actually it's worse; it's suicide. But with all due respect, not all Christians/Catholics are blind (or short-sighted, like you said). Martin Luther (the guy who started The Protestants) was not exactly short-sighted.... Neither was J.R.R. Tolkien (oh yes I dare invoke Papa Tolkien's name) nor C.S. Lewis (yup him too). Unfortunately I can name only 3 people who believe in God but are not short-sighted. But maybe a there's a fourth....

I'll only explain why I mentioned two of the greatest authors on Earth when you ask me.

Now for the rest of y'all who are not Islam, sometimes we get so fanatical because that is what OUR God wants. He wants our full attention and love that's all. It's just that people forget to see the things and people around them.

Don't end up like me; I'm torn between decisions.
#1 Be total Christian (the way my God and the Bible tells me to)
#2 Be versatile and flexible; open to criticism and renewed perspectives on my faith. (not exactly what the Bible would describe as a true Christian/disciple)
#3 Just give up on Jesus because ever since I gave my life to him, I've been creating problems in my family; between my dad and I, between my parents, between my siblings and I, between my friends and I. (this decision would definitely cause indefinite pain and sadness)

So, just stick to your faith, listen also when your heart, spirit, soul and mind hears whispers.
You just might end up helping me argue for God. Or maybe the other way around. Either way, someday, we'll all be fighting; a full-fledged 3 or 4 way Crusade. Haha!! (Praying the ISA is not coming to get me)

But until then, do your part as a person who has choices--worship my God or "spit" on His face.
I would be angry if you choose the latter; but there's nothing I can do to change your decision.

But I can try. And I will.

No matter what I pretend,
The journey is more important than the end or the starting" -Linkin Park (haha)

Why would an almighty being care so much about such trivial things? Have you read God's Debris by Scott Adams? It's a free e-book. I have. I saw God in a way that I can finally see eye-to-eye with him.

In the e-book, there was a chapter on Holy Lands. The old man character asked the protogonist, 'What makes a land holy?', 'Why God, if he's so powerful, bother himself so much with just a little piece of land when he's created the world?'

And touching on a same topic, I'd say to those who are damned to Hell for not believing in Christ, like myself. Why should I go to your hell? Why should everyone go to your hell for not believing in your religion? What about the Muslims? Do they go to your Hell because they don't believe in Christ and do you go to their Hell likewise? I didn't think so. Again, in 'God's Debris', the e-book touches on perceptions. Which is the right religion? Christianity? Islam? Judaism? We are like birds who see into a church through a stained glass window. If we saw red, we'd believe the church's interior is red; if we saw yellow, likewise.

But I'd like to say, in the end, it's a human weakness to find strength in what he believes in. So maybe I'd try to exercise more religious tolerance(since I, in part, learnt a little bit more of my beliefs)

Okay, my bad, I didn't answer the Holy Land question. But, you'll find it soon enough in this e-book.

Damn I hope the link works. It's almost as controversial as the Da Vinci Code, but not as famous. Still, it's a good 180 pages or so of stimulating reading. Your perceptions will be challenged, and your beliefs will possibly be refined.

This is the new Da Vinci Code.

Excuuuuse me. Your God? What about Allah and Yahweh? Are you saying they're false gods? This is the reason why I don't believe in any God anymore; their 'truths' contradict each other.

This is EXACTLY the reason why religious wars happen. I've never heard of wars that started because of atheism.

I suppose I am condemning religion for screwing up the whole world, because it is! More people are using it for evil ends than for nobler reasons. If only John Lennon's world were true.

"Imagine a world...without religion too" - Imagine - John Lennon.

well its taught in christianity that all people are living in sin. They are sinful in nature. No matter how nice a person you are, or how charitable you are, you still do sinfull things. the consequences of sin, however minor, happens to be death(spiritually). Up until the time of Jesus, the only way to get out of that was by sacrificing animals and stuff as their blood "covered" sin. Jesus, who christians believe is the son of God, is sinless. His sacrificing himself on the cross has thus has given men a different means of salvation. That is by acknowledging him as the son of man, believing in him and asking for forgiveness. Jesus furthur left instructions on how to live a much better life. You might understand a bit more about the whole thing if you took some bible/theology classes or read the scripture a bit.

The references to Hitler aside, Agan, you haven't pointed out why everyone should go to Christian Hell because it's the #1 religion in the world; you only pointed out ways to enter Christian Heaven.

As for sacrificing animals and whatnot, I understand that if you have sinned, and yet still accepted this Jesus, you'd go to Purgatory first, then Heaven. I find that a cheap way to assure people they're going to Heaven, only it'll take longer. It would seem that everyone's gonna end up in Purgatory first, since everyone is bound to have sinned at least once in their lives, except for non-believers such as myself, it would seem.

Basically, it's an insinuation that, 'If you don't join us now, you'll be damned eventually.' As such, it seems that most religions, if not all, are based on a concept of fear. It's either you do(n't), or you'll get punished. So coming back to your statement that man is sinful in nature, this means that fear is a perfect tool for cowing him to serve some being's whims.

Hey...this issue is very sensitive. Why can't all of us live in peace? Why must there be a war?

Because of religious people who push their views on those who don't want to be converted. Wars start because of this very reason. It's a violation of human rights to push your views onto other people without their consent. I suppose the main reason why a lot of native peoples convert to Christianity was because they don't realize their rights and also were unable to fight for it.

And since everyone finds it normal to preach their views onto others, therefore, it isn't wrong for me to push mine onto yours either. As I have mentioned before, freedom of religion ALSO means freedom FROM religion. And I choose the latter.

That's the answer to your question, Chan.
